SC 57 was awarded to PNOC EC on 15 September 2005. Located offshore northwest Palawan, west of the Calamian Islands, the block covers an area of 7,120 km2 with water depths ranging from 50 to 3,000 meters. It lies within and is within the Northwest Palawan Basin (NWPB) and is on trend with the producing Malampaya Gas Field and other oil fields in the basin.
To date, four wells have been drilled in SC 57, including one oil discovery well, the Bantac-1. Regionally distributed in the block is a total of 3,346 line km of 2D seismic data, providing valuable geological insights.
Following the lifting of Force Majeure in SC 57 on 11 March 2022, by the Department of Energy, PNOC EC resumed geological and geophysical activities in SC 57. As part of its work program, PNOC EC acquired 1,519 km2 of 3D seismic survey from May 15 to June 14, 2024. The newly acquired and processed seismic data has significantly enhanced the understanding of the prospectivity of the block, leading to the identification of new prospects and leads in new plays with promising resource volume potential.
PNOC EC is actively seeking potential Joint Venture partner/s to advance exploration and development in SC 57.
