This was done as part of PNOC EC’s commitments to the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) for COC 122. PNOC EC provided the saplings, fertilizer, and tree guards. The schools would be responsible for nurturing the trees.
300 trees of various types were planted in Cauayan City and the Municipality of Benito Soliven. Fruit-bearing trees such as Jackfruit, Santol, Rambutan, and Guyabano, and the hardwood variety Narra were planted at the Benito Soliven National High School, and the Villa Concepcion High School in Cauayan City.
The trees are expected to bear their fruits within five years of planting. All of the varieties are native species that have been proven to grow and prosper on the areas’ soil.
