Combatting COVID-19: PNOC EC Donates Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Thermal Scanners to the Philippine Army

26 March 2020, Headquarters, Philippine Army – PNOC EC donated Thermal Scanners and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as goggles, gloves and face masks to the Philippine Army as part of its contribution to the National Government effort in combatting COVID-19.

PNOC EC President and CEO, LTGEN ROZZANO D BRIGUEZ AFP (Ret) led a contingent of PNOC Officers and Staff to the Philippine Army Headquarters in Taguig, where they were warmly received by the Philippine Army Vice Commander, MAJOR GEN REYNALDO AQUINO AFP, along with some of the Philippine Army officers and Command Staff.​

In his remarks, Pres. Briguez praised the Phil Army for their heroism being part of the frontline personnel manning the checkpoints, in line with the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) program of the Government to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the country. “We are really proud of our front liners.” Pres. Briguez said. “We thought about what help we could give you. And we were thinking, we will donate PPEs and thermal scanners. And let us not look too far, let us help those closest to us here, the Philippine Army, since they are part of the front lines. Please also consider this assistance as our way of thanking you for all you efforts and sacrifices during these tough times.”

For his part, MGEN AQUINO thanked PNOC EC for the donation. “We are very fortunate and very grateful for the support extended to us by PNOC EC. These equipment are very much needed. On behalf of the Commanding General, Philippine Army, LTGEN GILBERT GAPAY and the whole Philippine Army, we would like to express our sincerest gratitude to LtGen Rozzano Briguez and the PNOC EC for this generosity. This will go a long way towards supporting our troops in the field. We also wish you good luck in your efforts to continue providing services to our people. As you mentioned, in this critical time, we need to sustain a steady supply of power,” MGen Aquino said.

PNOC EC is part of the consortium for the Malampaya Gas to Power Project that provides up to 40% of the power requirements of Luzon. PNOC EC is currently maintaining a skeletal work force led by the President and CEO LtGen Rozzano D Briguez and his Chief of Staff, Col Ronnie C Laguda PAF (Ret) during the ECQ period.
