PNOC Exploration Corporation (PNOC EC) Hosts “Women in Energy Symposium” in Celebration of National Women’s Month
In celebration of the National Women’s Month, PNOC Exploration Corporation (PNOC EC) hosted the “Women in Energy Symposium” on March 11, 2026, at Pagasa Hall, bringing together distinguished women leaders who have made significant contributions to the Philippine energy sector.
Carrying the theme “Empowering Women, Energizing the Future: Leading with Balance,” the symposium highlighted the growing role of women in shaping the country’s energy industry and fostering inclusive leadership across the sector. The event was part of PNOC EC’s Gender and Development (GAD) initiatives in line with the observance of National Women’s Month. It was organized by the GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) under the guidance of GFPS Executive Committee Member, Ms. Luth Lacaba, who also gave the introduction to the panelists.
The symposium featured four (4) accomplished panelists whose careers span various segments of the energy industry — (i). Ms. Clarisa T. Mirano, Consultant for Fuel Management of Aboitiz Power’s coal fired power plants, (ii). Ms. Lyrna Esmeralda Hewitt, Country Head of Verdant Energy, (iii). Atty. Monalisa C. Dimalanta, former Chairperson of Energy Regulatory Commission and currently Senior Partner of PJS Law and (iv). Atty. Maria Fe Concepcion Guirnalda-Lucero, Director for Legal and Corporate Affairs and Corporate Secretary of Philippine Geothermal Production Company. They were former PNOC EC employees who are now leaders in their own fields whose work continues to influence the Philippine energy sector.
During the panel discussion, the speakers reflected on their leadership journey, the evolving landscape of the energy sector, and the importance of building professional networks. They emphasized the value of balancing firm and nurturing leadership styles and remaining open to opportunities that may arise along the way.
The panelists also shared their passion and enduring commitment to the energy sector, noting that whether they may find themselves across the table or working alongside one another, there always remains space for kindness, professionalism, and mutual support—qualities that often become the foundation for lasting professional friendships. Their perspectives provided value and inspiration to participants, particularly the next generation of leaders in the company.
The lively exchange of ideas between the panelists and the audience extended the discussion well beyond the scheduled program, reflecting the strong interest and engagement of PNOC EC employees.
The discussion was moderated by Shirleen Sharma and Alexis De La Torre, who facilitated an engaging discourse and encouraged thoughtful dialogue between the panelists and the audience.
As PNOC EC approaches its 50th year of service in the Philippine energy sector, the symposium served as a meaningful platform to recognize the contributions of women leaders and reaffirm the organization’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and forward-looking energy community.
