PNOC EC Welcomes New Ex-Officio Chairperson

Atty. Sharon S. Garin, Officer-in-Charge, Department of Energy

19 June 2025, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig – PNOC Exploration Corporation, the oil, gas, and coal exploration and development arm of the National Government, welcomes its new Ex-Officio Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Atty. Sharon S. Garin.

A Certified Public Accountant and Lawyer by profession, Garin is now the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Department of Energy. She was appointed by Pres. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. effective 16 July 2025.

She also holds key leadership positions as Chairperson of the Nuclear Energy Program Coordinating Committee and as the Department’s Legislative Liaison.

OIC Garin served in the House of Representatives for twelve (12) years, from 2010 to 2022. She was the first party-list representative elected as Deputy Speaker, and the first female Deputy Speaker from the Province of Iloilo.

She holds a degree in Accounting from the University of the Philippines Iloilo, a Law Degree from the Ateneo de Manila School of Law, and an International MBA from the Escuela Superior de Administración y Dirección de Empresas (ESADE) in Spain.
