BBM: CAMAGO-3 WELL SUCCESSFULLY DRILLED & TESTED
27 March 2026, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig — PNOC Exploration Corporation, the oil, gas, and coal exploration and development arm of the National Government, is proud to report that that the Camago-3 Well in the Malampaya Gas Field has been successfully drilled and tested.
As announced by His Excellency, Pres. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in a short video on his official Facebook Page early yesterday evening, the Camago-3 well has been successfully drilled and tested, and is expected to have production of up to 60 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, with gas delivery coming in by the fourth quarter of 2026.
This is a significantly larger well aiming to bolster the country’s gas supply, and is projected to extend the life of the Malampaya Field for up to another six years. Camago-3 is two-and-a-half times larger than the Malampaya East-1 well discovered in January of this year, and is a key part in the $893 million Malampaya Phase 4 project.
The President further explained that the two wells will provide a more available local energy resource that is cheaper than imported Liquefied Natural Gas, which will boost the country’s energy security. He also announced the ongoing works for the drilling of the next well, Bagong Pagasa.
This was achieved through the combined efforts of the Service Contract 38 Consortium, composed of Prime Energy Resources Development B.V., UC38 LLC, PNOC EC, and Prime Oil and Gas, Inc. Pres. Marcos approved the renewal of the SC 38 contract for fifteen (15) years until 2039.
PNOC EC has been a member of the SC 38 Consortium since December 1999. Since the start of production in 2001, the Malampaya Project has generated more than US$14 billion in revenues for the National Government.
